About

Sofía Arbaiza Martínez is an Ecuadorian animator, visual development artist, and filmmaker based in Brooklyn. She focuses her work on narratives that center around stories of displacement and connection, particularly in immigrant communities. Her Latin American identity is a crucial part of her inspiration as an artist. Sofía is a recent graduate from Pratt Institute with a BFA in Digital Art and 2D Animation and a minor in Literature and Writing. Through her craft, she looks to innovate and uplift stories about her heritage and community. She loves animals, writing, and enjoys cooking.

Her film “Último Día” was awarded with Best in Show at Pratt Institute’s showcase, and it is currently doing it’s festival circuit at various international film festivals. This year, Sofía was selected as an Invited Artist for the Princess Grace Award 2024.
